EXPERIENCE THE BEACHES IN SANTORINI GREECE
Many consider Santorini as the jewel of the Cyclades, and some even say that this island is Paradise. The best things about this amazing island are its views and the beauty of its villages.
Who’s up for a few days in this unique place? Let yourself go and enjoy the three places you should not miss on the island of Santorini.
1. Sunset cruise in Santorini
Santorini Caldera is one of the wonders of the island. To visit you go down from Thira by cable car or drive to the port area. Once there, you can take a boat to the caldera and tour of the volcanic area.
In some areas, you can bathe in the water, which is hot due to the high temperatures generated by the volcano.
Doing the tour during sunset is one of the best experiences. Dozens of people gather every day to see the sunset from the Caldera. The image will be recorded forever in your memory as one of the most beautiful sunsets you ever saw.
2. Santorini wine tasting
Perhaps one of the least known aspects of Santorini is how good the wines produced on the island are. Wine tasting in Santorini is the ideal complement to a day watching white villages or resting on volcanic beaches. There is no pleasure comparable to watching the sunset while you taste a local wine. One of the most famous wineries is Sigalas, just outside the village of Oia. Getting there is quite easy if you have your own car, as there are many indications on the road on how to get to the winery.
There are two main varieties of wine In Santorini. The first is white, sharp, dry and sensual. Served young, this wine, lively and mineral, speaks of the volcanic nature of the soil. The other variety, the famous Vinsanto, means “wine of Santorini”, and is one of the oldest wines in the world. Its fame dates back to the time of Homer. It is a sweet, natural wine without added alcohol. You should stop in one of its warehouses or cultivation sites, and take at least a drink while enjoying the views of the caldera.
3. Beaches in Santorini
The most famous beach in Santorini is Kamari Beach: about 4.5 kilometers long and 200 meters wide, is dark in color and made of many small stones. The shallow waters are ideal for children. The road next to the beach is full of bars, restaurants and shops.
The second one is the Red Beach: located near the village and ancient city of Akrotiri, the beach is quite small and attracts many tourists thanks to the beautiful volcanic slabs of red and black stone that are behind it. It is in front of a crystal clear sea, ideal for diving.
The red beach is only accessible by car, making the last stretch on foot, or it can be reached from the sea on small boats that leave from the ports of Akrotiri and Fira during the summer.
